He was shortlisted for a directing category in Short Theatre at Anugerah Merdeka DBP in 2009. In 20, he won for Best Director at the Penang Theatre Festival. is from Universiti Sains Malaysia in field of Scenography. His Master’s degree is from Universiti Malaya and his Ph.D. Azrul graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia with a Drama and Theatre major in Directing (Degree).
